Sunday, July 13.  CRAFT PDX: A BLOCK PARTY.  11 AM - 6 PM 
Tues 31 July.  Portland Classical Chinese Trio take listeners on a musical journey to the Ming dynasty era gardens of Suzhou, China — minus plane fare.  At the Tuesdays by Twilight concert at the Portland Classical Chinese Garden.  Wine, beer and Asian cuisine are available for purchase at each concert. Thurs 2 Aug.  First Thursday in Old Town Summer Festival.  Watch this space for the line-up of the big event being sponsored by TriMet to celebrate the completion of laying track in Old Town or the new MAX line.

Sun 5 August.  First Sunday in Old Town!   
Visitors to Portland’s Old Town can look forward to a full day ofactivities for the whole family on Sunday, August 5, 2007. The “First Sunday” self-guided walking tour highlights fun, games and history for kids of all ages.
  • 12 pm Start your self-guided tour at Portland Saturday Market, located under the BurnsideBridge. Look for the kids’ activities in the area near the stage.
  • 1:30 pm Take a trip back into the past of Japantown at the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center (121NW 2nd Ave). $3 donation. Visit the gift shop with its fine selection of books for adults and kids.
  • 2:30 pm Give your child a captain’s-eye view of the Willamette River at the Oregon Maritime Museum, located on the steam tugboat “Portland” at the foot of SW Pine St. $5 adults, $4 seniors, $3 youth, under 6 free.
  • 3:30 pm You and your kids will have a blast from the past playing arcade games from the ‘70s,‘80s & ‘90s at Ground Kontrol, 511 NW Couch.
  • 5 pm Visit the Portland Classical Chinese Garden (NW 3rd & Everett), where your ticket is good all day. $7 adults, $6 seniors, under 6 free.
  • 6 pm Enjoy a lively meal at Old Town Pizza (226 NW Davis). You may even want to tell your child about Nina, the resident ghost!
  • 7:30 pm “Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki” features Japanese and Tibetan music, the Aurora Chorus, Oregon Poet Laureat Lawson Inada, storyteller Polo, and interactive dance with the Harmos Project. Free. From 7:30 to 9:30 pm at Japanese American Historical Plaza in Waterfront Park.
First Sunday in Old Town is a program of the Arts, Culture and History Group of the Old Town Chinatown Neighborhood Association.
